Shashi Anand has a graduation in cinematography from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). He has been actively involved in the documentary movement. His first documentary - Man Vs. Man - on the hand rickshaw-pullers of Kolkata was recognized internationally too. Abar Koto Din was his second documentary. It was in the Indian panorama in 1990.
