RG family

An alumnus of the Government College of Art and Crafts, Raghunath Goswami joined advertising and had worked as a creative art director at J. Walter Thompson and Everest Advertising. He, along with the likes of Satyajit Ray, OC Ganguly, Annada Munshi and Makhan Dasgupta, went past western influences to create advertisements that had an indigenous flavor. Under him were set up two organizations - Puppets Calcutta and Raghunath Goswami and Associates.A pioneer of animation and puppet films, Raghunath succeeded in merging ancient traditions of folk and modern international puppetry. Raghunath had developed numerous narratives using shadow, rod, string, glove puppets as well as muppets....

Awards
    Hattogol Vijay was the winner of the Prime Minister?s Gold Medal as the best children's film of 1961.
Did You Know?

He set up an animation unit in Kolkata in 1984. This was done in collaboration with the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad.
