Born in Maichpara village of Bangladesh, Nripen got admitted to Asutosh College in 1943. But he couldn't continue with his education. After the riots, many Muslim technicians left for Dhaka from Kolkata. New recruits were taken in the vacant slots. An electrician at Bharat Lakshmi studio mentioned that there was a vacancy at the laboratory. Nripen took up the offer. "Though I got no pay, I earned in terms of experiences. For Doordarshan, Nripen directed five telefilms titled Nayan Chhati, Jhanu Chor Chanu, Char Khana Chhobi, Antarjali, Mejdidi, Chatujjye Barujjye and Bindur Chhele. He also directed a 13-episode serial based on songs from movies titled Mone Rekho Mor Gaan as well as commercials for Fertilizer Corporation and Rangajaba Aalta.
