It was an interest in still photography that hand-holded Gautam Halder to the creative world. His photography exhibitions were held in different parts of India. Gautam is equally passionate about literature, music, paintings, theatre and cinema. He began his tryst with theatre with the successful play, Kaachher Manush. Subsequently, he did Nastaneer and Raktakarabi.In the documentary space, Gautam has worked with legends of Indian classical music. Awards
    • A Story of Integration received a Special Mention at the 42nd National Award for films of 1994. The recognition was given for "his painstaking attempt to bring its subject to life". 
    • The film also won the Bengali Film Journalists' Associations awards.
