A National Award-winning editor, Saikat Sekhareswar Ray believes that film editing should remain an invisible art. He is currently leading the film editing department at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. He completed his education at South Point High School and earned an honors degree in commerce from Heramba Chandra College. Following this, he pursued a postgraduate diploma specializing in film editing at the Satyajit Ray Film & TV Institute.

Awards
    • In 2007, Saikat received the Rajat Kamal for best editing for the full-length documentary 'Hope Dies Last in War'. The citation mentioned that he was chosen as the winner for this work "for its creative blending of various elements of the past and present, as also for its seamless flow of images that evoke genuine emotions”.
    • In 2009, he won the IDPA Best Editor Award (Fiction) for Shraddha Pasi’s 'Dhin Tak Dha'.
    • In 2010, he won the IDPA Best Editor Award (Non-Fiction) for Shyamal Karmakar’s 'Many Stories of Love and Hate'.
Did You Know?

Saikat completed his diploma course on Rabindrasangeet from Dakshinee in 1997 and stood first in the final exam. In 1998, he had won the Sunil Kumar Roy Smriti Puroshkar and Dakshinee Puroshkar.  Since then he has performed as a Rabindrasangeet artist in Delhi, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Allahabad, USA and Dubai. His two solo albums - ‘Ashbe Jodi’ (2013) and ‘Hritkamal’ (2014) – were released by SAREGAMA.
