Did You Know?

In the pipeline is Debalina’s documentary on freedom fighter Parul Mukherjee. “She was an exceptionally spirited woman who took on the British Raj, faced immense physical and mental torture post her arrest and yet had the spirit to rise up against all odds. A multi-faceted lady, Parul pishi was also very concerned about the environment. There is a tamarind tree in Vidyasagar Colony which we believe was planted by her. Since it is taking a while for me to start filming this documentary titled ‘Parul Pishi’, we have decided to host programmes every week undedrneath that tree where we can talk about the environment at large as well as the current state of the country. On the first Sunday, we hosted a musical event by Moushumi Bhowmick,” she said.
