A National Award winning Indian feature filmmaker and a professor of economics at the Florida Atlantic University, Suman Ghosh has recently joined the bandwagon of documentary film-makers. Both his documentaries have made headlines. While the documentary on AmartyaSen was in the news for its censorship row, the second work on Aparna Sen will have its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Cinema Regained strand.Suman completed his Ph.D in Economics from Cornell University in 2002.     • The Argumentative Indian won the Best Documentary award at Indian Film Festival Houston 2018. 
    • Parama-A Journey with Aparna Sen has received the best documentary award at Indian Film Festival of Houston organized by Asia Society Texus in 2024.
Did You Know?

The Central Board of Film Certification initially asked the director to beep out some words and phrases used by Sen in the film, including “cow”, “Gujarat”, “Hindu India” and “Hindutva view of India”. The director later met CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi in Mumbai on 4th January, 2018, to discuss the issue. Joshi and the CBFC team reduced the number of cuts to one - the word 'Gujarat'.
