After completing her Masters degree in Film Studies from Kolkata’s Jadavpur University, Sreemoyee went on to pursue a PhD on “The Exiled Filmmaker in Post Revolution Iranian Cinema”. Her bond with Iran resulted in the making of the critically acclaimed feature length documentary, And, Towards Happy Alleys (Be Kucheye Khoshbakht). Sreemoyee holds the record of being the first director of non-Iranian origin who has shot a documentary in Iran after having learnt Persian. Besides being a love letter to Iranian cinema and an account of the resilience of the women and men of Iran against daily censorship, the film has an interesting and intimate segment on rhinoplasty and how Persians like their noses to be perfect when nothing else is.
