Chhabi Biswas

Born into the zamindar family of Chhoto Jagulia, veteran actor Chhabi Biswas was raised in a house on Beadon Street. The bylane near this house was named after his ancestors. The initial days of his acting were spent in a rented house on Dilkhusha Street. During the 1946 riots, he shifted to Naktala to stay in another rented house. The red-floored house in Naktala had a garden and a pond. Old-timers have memories of seeing him busy with gardening there. He even reared animals on this property. Unfortunately, a fatal car accident on his way to his ancestral house in Chhoto Jagulia cut short his life in 1962.
