Basanta Chowdhury

For a considerable number of years, Basanta Chowdhury used to stay at a rented place that was very close to Kanan Devi's para. Sometime in the early 1960s, she advised Basanta to buy a plot of land. Just like a guardian, she even got him introduced to the owners of a plot of land behind Madhuban cinema. Unfortunately, Basanta's dream of building a two-storey house there never got materialised. In the late 1980s, the plot was given to a promoter who built an apartment there. Basanta lived in a flat in this apartment till he breathed his last.
