Kamal Dasgupta

The ancestral house of the Nans was located just next to their Kali temple. This house was named after their Rupbani cinema. Music director Kamal Dasgupta used to stay on rent in a house that was located in the rear portions of this building on Ramdulal Sarkar Street. After converting to Islam, he shifted to a rented flat on Lower Range along with wife Feroza Begum. Their first child was born in a Park Circus nursing home. Before leaving for Bangladesh in the 1960s, the couple shifted to Tala Park. Both the Rupbani house and the Lower Range flat still exist.
