Jaddan Bai

The Kolkata chapter of her life was spent between two houses in Janbazar and Beleghata. Her daughter, Nargis, was born in Kolkata too. Jaddan Bai donated her Beleghata house on No. 38 Badan Roy Lane house to the West Bengal government. The residence which once saw Jaddan pet a tiger was demolished to make way for the Beleghata campus of Dr BC Roy Post Graduate Institute of Psychiatric Sciences. Jaddan had wanted that too. Her Janbazar house still remains. Actor Sanjay Dutt had once come down to pay a visit to this house of his grandmother on Indian Mirror Street. After talking to the locals about the history of the house, Dutt sat silently in one of the rooms.
