Hemanta Mukhopadhyay

Hemanta Mukhopadhyay's association with Bhowanipore is well known to many in Bengal. Born there, it was in this area that the legend stayed when he did a lot of his major work in Kolkata. Thereafter, he shifted to Mumbai. His house named Gitanjali in the Khar area of Mumbai was also quite an iconic address. He shifted back to Kolkata in the later years of his life and bought a flat on Sarat Chatterjee Avenue. Though the ownership has changed hands, this flat still houses the Hemanta Mukhopadhyay archive.
