Amar Choudhury

Amar Chowdhury was the director of Jamai Shashthi - the first talkie film of Bengal. His full name was Amar Roy Chowdhury. His house is now in a dilapidated condition. The family has moved elsewhere. His son, Arun Chowdhury, was a familiar face in the Bengali film industry of the 1950s and 1960s. Another son, Rabi Chowdhury, was a close friend of Uttam Kumar. According to Kolkata Municipal Corporation's records, this house is now in the list of 'dangerous' buildings.
