Uttam Kumar's Ogo Bodhu Sundari too had done well there. It had run for 12 weeks at Malancha. Subsequently, other Hindi films including Mohabbatein and Kal Ho Naa Ho drew good crowd. Subodh Roy Chowdhury passed away in 2010. His wife died three months later. His daughters had wanted to keep the cinema running but were forced to close it in 2018. Their uncle, Amar Roy Chowdhury, who is another co-owner, attributed the low footfall as one of the prime reasons for shutting down the theatre. Since the cinema has been shut for long, decision was taken to sell it off.
